Highland & Lakes Adventure Challenge with Invesco Perpetual
The event was conceived and designed by Mark Davey CEO of the Youth Adventure Trust (YAT) and Across the Divide in order to raise funds for The Youth Adventure Trust.
Participation on the event is limited to employees and associates of Invesco Perpetual.
The event was designed to meet multiple CSR objectives for Invesco Perpetual specifically focusing on employee/associate engagement in a collaborative but competitive setting.
The Event
A multi event encompassing two days of activity, two nights camping and a celebration dinner. In teams of 6 – 8 we ask them to complete the following:
Day One
The Triple Crown. Hike across Kirk Fell, Great Gable and Scafell Pike covering approximately 30km. The route should take 7hours.
Day Two
Mountain bike across mixed terrain covering approximately 45km (27miles). The route starts at the Campsite at Wasdale Head and finishes at Coniston Water. 3 big climbs and some technical decents and teams arrive at the transition area for the next phase.
It is anticipated that teams will take 6 hours to complete this part of the race.
Canoeing the length of Coniston 9km (5miles). Starting at the south end of the Lake teams head north to the landing quay at Coniston village. Time taken 2 hours
Teams are given electronic timing chips so they can monitor the times they take over the three activities. This all adds to a friendly but competitive feel to the event.
The campsite has a bar and catering tent where teams are well looked after and can relax after a hard day’s challenge.
The Outcome
Since 2011 the event has achieved the following:
- Teams have collectively raised over £973,000.
- Supporting life changing opportunities to 324 disadvantaged children
- since it was launched; more than 1500 individuals from the financial adviser community have shared in this personal and team event
